I fitted a new board and the same fault came back the next day. What did I miss?
Usually one of four things. A flat flexible cable pushed in but not fully home and locked, which works until vibration finds it. A connector latched by feel rather than confirmed by a light tug. A bay seal or grommet not seated, letting moisture straight back in. Or a downstream short that was there all along and is now working on the new board. Reopen the bay, check each connector properly, and look for evidence of liquid before assuming the replacement was faulty.
Can I test the old board with a multimeter to confirm it is dead before I order?
Not usefully, and there is real risk in trying. This listing publishes no pinout or voltage data, and probing a dense connector without one invites a slipped probe shorting two pins, which destroys a board that may have been repairable evidence. The productive tests are the ones that need no meter: provoke the fault by hand at the connectors, watch whether it tracks with heat or with moisture, and compare reported flow against what the tank actually gives up.
The payload error only shows up half an hour into spraying. Is that still the board?
It fits the pattern of a thermal intermittent, which does point at the board or a connection near it, but confirm before ordering. Note whether the fault always appears at a similar elapsed time, whether it clears after the aircraft cools, and whether a cool early morning start is clean. Also check that nothing has been added around the bay that blocks airflow, and that the bay is not simply sitting in full sun with the cover taking heat all day.
My sprayer is fine but the spreader is erratic. Should I really be looking at payload electronics?
It is worth checking, because the same board handles both payload systems and a fault can present in one and not the other. Start by separating command problems from mechanical ones: erratic starting, stopping, or timing points at the control side, while a steady output that is simply wrong points at the spreader hardware. If the aircraft can be switched to the other payload, try it. A fault that follows both payloads is common hardware, not two coincidences.
