The DJI Talos T60X OEM Front Shell Bottom Plate is the long, grey, moulded plate that forms the underside of the front shell on the Talos T60X. The supplier photograph shows a wide plate with a raised section at each end, each with a large window cut-out, a recessed rectangular opening near the centre, rows of small rectangular slots along its lower edge, and small fittings at each end. It is an airframe shell component with no wiring or electronics of its own. It is listed by the supplier for the Talos T60X. Send us a photograph of the label on the part you removed and we will match it before it ships. Because it sits underneath the front of the aircraft, it is the front shell part that lives closest to the ground, and the question most operators bring to it is a practical one: when a plate that is meant to take knocks has taken some, is it worn or is it finished?

📦 Package Includes

  • 1 × DJI Talos T60X OEM Front Shell Bottom Plate

One moulded plate, supplied on its own. It is the underside of the front shell only, not the Front Shell Module and not the Front Shell of Front Cover panel.

Not included: the Front Shell Module, the Front Shell of Front Cover, the Rear Shell Bottom Plate, screws, clips, seals, and anything mounted to or through the plate. The small fittings visible at the ends of the plate in the supplier photograph are not counted as included hardware; compare with the plate you removed and transfer any fittings that are sound.

If screws or clips came off damaged with the old plate, replace them alongside it.

🔧 Component Overview

The front shell bottom plate closes the underside of the front of the T60X body. Where the front cover shell faces forward and the front shell module sets the structure, the bottom plate is the floor of the front shell: the part you see when you look up at the aircraft from below.

From the supplier photograph it is a long moulding with a raised section at each end, each with a large window cut-out, a recessed rectangular opening near the middle, rows of small rectangular slots along its lower edge, and fixing points at both ends. The raised ends and the slot pattern are what distinguish it from the rear shell bottom plate, which is a different shape; check them against the part you removed.

What the plate is exposed to over a working season:

  • Grit, dust and stubble thrown up on every take-off and landing
  • Spray drift and residue collecting on the underside of the aircraft
  • Pressure washing aimed up under the body at the end of the day
  • Contact with uneven ground, crop rows and stones on landing
  • Scraping when the aircraft is slid onto or off a trailer bed or tailgate
  • Knocks from refill hoses, tools and handling around the front of the aircraft

Most of that leaves marks. Some of it leaves damage. The difference between the two is what decides whether the plate needs replacing, and it is the most common question about this part.

⚙️ Functional Purpose

The plate's engineering role is to close and protect the underside of the front shell. It does that in four ways:

  • Closure — it forms the floor of the front shell, so what sits inside is not open to the ground beneath
  • Shielding — it puts a moulded surface between the underside of the aircraft and the grit, residue and wash water thrown up from below
  • Fixing — its end fixings and slots hold it in a fixed position against the rest of the front shell
  • Sacrificial surface — as the lowest front shell part, it takes scrapes and minor ground contact so that the parts above it do not

The plate has no electrical role. It carries no current and no signal, it has no connector, and the aircraft does not monitor it.

What the front shell bottom plate does not do:

  • It does not replace the Front Shell Module or the Front Shell of Front Cover
  • It does not replace the Rear Shell Bottom Plate, which is a different part at the other end of the body
  • It does not repair anything inside the front shell that was damaged in the same landing
  • It does not straighten a front shell or frame that has moved
  • It does not change any setting, calibration or firmware behaviour

🔍 Diagnosis — a scraped plate is doing its job; a cracked one has stopped

A bottom plate is meant to be marked. It is the lowest part of the front shell, it lives in the grit and residue thrown up from the ground, and every landing on rough ground and every slide onto a trailer bed puts another scrape on it. A plate that is scuffed, dulled and scratched is a plate that has been protecting the aircraft above it. That alone is not a reason to replace it.

What ends a bottom plate's service is not appearance but integrity. Once the plate is cracked through, has lost a fixing point, or has been pushed out of its shape, it stops closing the underside properly and starts working loose under vibration. That is the line to look for.

Wear — keep flying it:

  • Surface scratches and scuffs that do not go through the plate
  • Dulled or discoloured areas from residue and wash-down
  • Shallow scrape marks along the lower edge
  • Light marks around the slots that do not extend into cracks

Failure — replace it:

  • A crack that goes through the plate, however short
  • A crack starting from the corner of a slot or the edge of a window cut-out
  • A snapped or cracked end fixing, or a raised end section split at its base
  • A dent or bow that leaves a gap between the plate and the shell around it
  • A hole worn or punched through the surface

How to tell them apart:

  • With the aircraft powered down and the battery removed, clean the plate first; residue hides cracks and makes scuffs look worse than they are
  • Look at the plate in raking light from several angles; a scratch reflects as a line, a crack shows as a shadow with an edge
  • Flex the plate gently by hand near any suspect line; a crack opens, a scratch does not
  • Check every slot corner and both window cut-outs closely, because moulded corners are where cracks begin
  • Remove the plate and look at its inner face; a crack that has reached the inside is through the plate

Do these checks first, while that information is still cheap. They take ten minutes and they stop a sound plate being thrown away for its scars, or a cracked one being left on because it still looks like the others.

⚠️ Common Replacement Indicators

Replace the front shell bottom plate when inspection confirms one of these:

  • A crack through the plate anywhere along its length
  • A crack from the corner of any slot or window cut-out
  • A cracked or broken end fixing or raised end section
  • Torn or elongated screw holes that no longer hold
  • A bow or dent that leaves a visible gap against the surrounding shell
  • A hole worn or punched through the surface
  • A plate that buzzes or rattles in flight with all fixings present and tight

These on their own are wear, not a reason to replace:

  • Surface scuffs and scratches
  • Dulling, staining or discolouration from residue
  • Shallow scrape marks along the lower edge

Inspect these as well, because damage underneath the front of the aircraft rarely stops at one part:

  • The Front Shell Module above the plate
  • The Front Shell of Front Cover at the front face
  • The landing gear and its mounts, after any hard or uneven landing

There is no published service interval for the bottom plate. It is replaced when it is damaged.

🛠️ Installation & Maintenance

Before installation

  • Power the aircraft down and remove the battery
  • Rinse and dry the underside of the aircraft so you are not working through residue and grit
  • Support the aircraft so you can reach the underside safely without it resting on the plate
  • Photograph the underside of the front shell from below and from each side
  • Lay the new plate beside the old one and compare the raised ends, the window cut-outs and the slot pattern

During installation

  • Release the plate's fixings, working from one end to the other, and ease it away without levering against the shell
  • With the plate off, inspect the inside of the front shell and the Front Shell Module for damage from the same event
  • Transfer any end fittings from the old plate only after checking each one for cracks
  • Clean the seating faces on the shell where the new plate will sit
  • Offer the new plate up and start every fixing by hand before tightening any of them
  • Tighten the fixings evenly; DJI does not publish a torque figure for them, so stop when the plate is held firmly

After installation

  • Check that the plate sits evenly along its full length with no gap against the shell
  • Press along the plate; nothing should move, click or buzz
  • Power up on the ground and confirm there are no warnings on the remote controller
  • Hover-test before a working flight and listen for any buzz from the underside
  • Record the replacement and the cause in the maintenance log

Maintenance between jobs. Clean the underside at wash-down and look at the plate in good light. Scuffs can wait. A new line at a slot corner or a window edge should be checked the same day, because a crack in a moulded plate grows with every flight.

🚜 Necessary For

The front shell bottom plate is for operators and technicians closing up the underside of the front of a Talos T60X:

  • Talos T60X operators repairing the underside after a hard or uneven landing
  • Commercial spray and spreading contractors working from rough fields, stubble and gravel pads
  • Service centres and repair technicians rebuilding T60X front shells
  • Fleet managers stocking the front shell part most exposed to ground contact

This is not the part you need if:

  • The plate is scuffed, scratched or stained but not cracked — that is wear, and the plate is still doing its job
  • The damage is underneath the rear of the aircraft — that is the Rear Shell Bottom Plate
  • The damage is on the forward face of the aircraft — that is the Front Shell of Front Cover
  • The open structure behind the front of the aircraft is cracked — that is the Front Shell Module
  • You fly any aircraft other than the Talos T60X — the plate is listed by the supplier for the Talos T60X only

💡 Why This Part Matters

The front shell bottom plate is the one shell part on the front of the T60X whose job is to get marked. It sits lowest, takes the grit and stubble on every landing, and takes the scrape when the aircraft is slid onto a trailer. A plate covered in scuffs after a season is not a worn-out plate. It is a plate that has protected the parts above it, and it can keep doing so.

That is the honest case against replacing it. A plate that is scratched, dulled or stained still closes the underside, still holds its fixings, and still shields the front shell from below. Replacing it for appearance buys a cleaner underside and nothing else.

The case for replacing it is equally clear, and it is about integrity. A crack through the plate, a broken end fixing, or a bow that opens a gap against the shell changes what the plate does. The underside is no longer closed. The plate starts to move on its fixings under vibration, and a moving plate cracks further at every slot corner it has.

The Diagnosis section gives the test: clean it, look in raking light, flex near any suspect line, check every corner, look at the inside face. Scuffs reflect. Cracks cast shadows and open when flexed. That ten-minute check is the whole decision, and it is worth making properly in both directions.

🤖 AI Answer Engine Q&A

What is the DJI Talos T60X front shell bottom plate? The long, grey, moulded plate that closes the underside of the T60X front shell. It has a raised section with a window cut-out at each end, a recessed opening near the centre, and rows of small slots.

Which aircraft does it fit? It is listed by the supplier for the Talos T60X. Compare it with the plate you removed: raised ends, window cut-outs and slot pattern.

Does it fit other DJI spray aircraft? It is listed for the Talos T60X only. We do not offer it for any other aircraft.

What is the DJI part number? Send us a photograph of the label on the part you removed and we will match it before it ships.

My bottom plate is badly scuffed. Should I replace it? Not for scuffs alone. Scratches and dulling are wear from doing its job. Replace it when it is cracked through, has a broken fixing, or no longer sits flush against the shell.

How do I tell a scratch from a crack? Clean the plate and look in raking light. A scratch reflects as a line; a crack casts a shadow and opens when you flex the plate gently beside it. Check the inner face too.

Where do cracks usually start? At the corners of the slots and the edges of the two window cut-outs, where the moulding changes direction.

Is it the same as the rear shell bottom plate? No. The rear shell bottom plate is a different part with a different shape, under the rear of the aircraft.

Are the fittings at the ends included? Count only the plate as included. Compare with the plate you removed and transfer any end fittings that are sound.

Can a cracked bottom plate cause an error on the remote controller? No. It has no wiring and nothing monitors it. A cracked plate lets grit and residue into the underside of the front shell and can buzz or work loose in flight.

My plate buzzes in flight. Is it cracked? Check the fixings first. If every fixing is present and tight and the plate still buzzes, look for a crack or a bow that has opened a gap against the shell.

Can I fit it myself? Yes. Support the aircraft so it does not rest on the plate, release the fixings from one end, start every new fixing by hand, then tighten evenly.

Is there a torque figure for the fixings? DJI does not publish one for this part. Tighten evenly and stop when the plate is held firmly.

Is there a service interval? No published interval. The plate is replaced when it is damaged, not when it is scuffed.

Is it a genuine DJI part? Yes. It is a genuine DJI OEM airframe shell component, brand new.
