DJI D12000iE engine oil level and dipstick guide

DJI D12000iE Engine Oil Guide: 1.1 L SJ 10W-40 Check & Change

Engine oil is a daily pre-operation item and a scheduled service item on the D12000iE. DJI lists a rated engine-oil capacity of 1.1 L and specifies SJ 10W-40 or equivalent. The built-in oil sensor can stop the engine when oil drops below the safety level.

Quick Answer: Stop the generator on a flat surface, remove and wipe the dipstick, insert it without screwing it in, then remove it and read the level. Add SJ 10W-40 or equivalent to the upper limit when the level is near or below the lower mark. Do not overfill. For an oil change, warm the engine for several minutes, stop it, drain through the engine-oil drain hose and refill to the upper limit.

Check oil before operation

  1. Stop the generator and place it on a flat surface.
  2. Unscrew the dipstick and wipe it with a clean cloth.
  3. Insert the dipstick without screwing it in.
  4. Remove it and read the level.
  5. Add recommended oil if near or below the lower mark.
  6. Reinstall and tighten the dipstick.

The exact service interface is available as the D12000iE Generator Oil Dipstick / Filler Cap.

Replace engine oil

DJI tells users to warm the engine for several minutes, stop the generator, place a container beneath the engine-oil drain hose, open the hose cap counterclockwise and wait for complete drainage. Reinstall the hose, tighten the cap and refill through the dipstick opening with SJ 10W-40 or equivalent to the upper limit.

Why low oil can look like a starting failure

The manual states that the built-in oil sensor stops the engine when oil falls below the safety level. If the generator unexpectedly flames out or refuses to continue running, check the oil level before moving into electrical or ignition diagnostics.

Warranty-sensitive maintenance

DJI states that damage caused by running with low oil, failing to replace oil according to the maintenance schedule or using non-recommended engine oil is not covered by warranty.
