DJI D12000iE pre-operation checklist

DJI D12000iE Pre-Operation Checklist: Oil, Fuel, Air Filter & Safety

The D12000iE pre-operation check is the fastest way to separate a real component fault from a basic readiness issue. DJI explicitly calls out spilled fuel or oil, loose or damaged hardware, fuel level, engine-oil level and sponge-filter condition before each operating session.

Quick Answer: Put the generator on a stable surface with the engine switch OFF. Check for oil/fuel spills, remove flammable material around the muffler and fan hood, inspect damaged or loose parts, confirm shields and fasteners, fill fuel, verify engine oil and inspect the sponge filter. The generator must also be used outdoors with adequate ventilation and proper grounding.

1. Look for oil and fuel leakage

Check around and under the generator for spilled engine oil or fuel. Fuel is flammable; DJI also warns not to smoke near the fuel tank and to keep the generator away from flames or sparks.

2. Clear the muffler and fan-hood area

Remove flammable materials around the generator, especially near the muffler and fan hood. The exhaust contains carbon monoxide, so the generator must be operated outdoors in a well-ventilated location and not in enclosed spaces.

3. Inspect structure and hardware

Repair or replace rusted, broken, damaged, deformed or loose parts. Confirm the muffler shield and fan hood are installed securely and that nuts, bolts and screws are tight.

4. Check fuel level

DJI recommends filling the fuel tank before operation. The guide lists a 30 L rated fuel capacity. Do not overfill, and do not power on the generator before adding gasoline and engine oil because the electronic fuel pump may be damaged.

If a fuel-delivery problem is separately diagnosed, the catalog includes the D12000iE Fuel Pump Assembly. Fuel-system parts can be build-specific, so confirm fitment before replacement.

5. Check engine oil

The guide lists a 1.1 L rated engine-oil capacity and specifies SJ 10W-40 or equivalent. The built-in oil sensor can stop the engine when oil falls below the safety level. A low-oil shutdown should be ruled out before assuming an electrical starting-system failure.

The D12000iE Oil Dipstick / Filler Cap is the exact service interface used for routine level checks.

6. Inspect the sponge air-filter element

A dirty sponge element reduces air entering the electronic fuel-injection unit and reduces generator performance. Detailed cleaning is covered in the dedicated air-filter article.
