1. Intake and exhaust are separate systems
Do not combine air-filter and spark-arrestor cleaning into one generic “engine cleaning” task.
2. Sponge filter removal
Access the air-filter housing according to the manual and remove the sponge element for service.
3. Sponge filter cleaning
Clean thoroughly using normal cleaning agent or warm water.
4. Allow the sponge to dry
Do not reinstall a wet element immediately.
5. Replace damaged sponge
If it is damaged during cleaning or inspection, replace it.
6. Clean dust from the housing
The housing itself also needs contamination removal before reassembly.
7. Oil contamination on cover
DJI allows carburetor cleaning agent to remove engine oil from the cover, followed by wiping dry.
8. Paper element inspection
Inspect separately from the sponge filter.
9. If paper element is wet with engine oil
DJI instructs users to contact official support or an authorized dealer for replacement.
10. If paper element does not require replacement
Tap it gently on the ground to shake off dust and debris.
11. Do not use compressed air
DJI warns that an air blower or compressed air can damage the intake pores.
12. RATO filter compatibility
The catalog's separate RATO Air Filter Paper Element is specifically for the RATO build; verify generator build before ordering.
13. Maintenance Pack
The D14000iE Preventive Maintenance Pack is the broader recurring-maintenance handoff for routine filter/service items.

14. Spark arrestor service begins at exhaust side
Remove the securing screws and protective cover.
15. Remove the spark arrestor
Take the arrestor out for separate cleaning/inspection.
16. Wash with carburetor cleaning agent
This is the cleaning agent specified by the source for the arrestor.
17. Remove scale with a wire brush
Use the wire brush to descale the arrestor after washing.
18. Replace if broken
Do not reinstall a structurally broken arrestor.
19. Reinstall and tighten
Return the cleaned or replacement arrestor and protective cover to normal secured condition.
20. Spark arrestor and spark plug are different service items
The lower part of the source figure begins spark-plug service, but this article keeps the arrestor procedure distinct.
21. Intake-side symptoms
Reduced airflow or poor generator performance can justify air-filter inspection before assuming EFI or deeper engine faults.
22. Exhaust-side symptoms
Exhaust restriction or damaged exhaust components should lead to the spark-arrestor/muffler branch rather than air-filter replacement.
23. Upgraded exhaust parts
For separately diagnosed exhaust-side repairs, the active catalog includes the D14000iE Exhaust Muffler — Upgraded and Muffler Outer Cover — Upgraded.
24. Maintenance intervals are different
The schedule separates intake-filter milestones from the longer spark-arrestor service interval. Do not service everything at the same frequency by assumption.

25. Air-filter service record
- generator asset ID;
- operating hours;
- sponge condition;
- paper condition;
- oil contamination present?;
- cleaned/replaced;
- generator build confirmed.
26. Spark-arrestor service record
- operating hours/date;
- cover condition;
- arrestor carbon/scale condition;
- cleaned/replaced;
- exhaust damage present?;
- reassembly confirmed.
27. If paper filter is oil-wet
Do not attempt to restore it with compressed air or aggressive cleaning. Follow the replacement/support path described by DJI.
28. If sponge filter is torn
Replace it instead of reinstalling.
29. If spark arrestor is broken
Replace it before returning the generator to normal operation.
30. If exhaust cover/muffler is damaged
Use the exhaust-system service path; spark-arrestor cleaning alone does not repair structural exhaust damage.
31. Common mistakes
Using compressed air on the paper element, reinstalling a wet/damaged sponge, treating an oil-soaked paper element as reusable, or reinstalling a broken arrestor.
32. FAQ
Sponge cleaning: normal cleaning agent or warm water. Paper filter: tap gently; no compressed air. Oil-wet paper: support/dealer replacement. Spark arrestor: carburetor cleaner + wire brush; replace if broken.
