DJI Agras T70P preflight takeoff and return to home guide — Canada edition

DJI Agras T70P Preflight, Takeoff, Flight Modes & Return-to-Home Guide (Canada)

🇨🇦 CANADA — DJI Agras T70P Preflight, Takeoff, Flight Modes & Return-to-Home: Normal Procedures for Canadian Operators

This Canadian edition is written for Canadian DJI Agras operators across Canada, from the Prairie grain belt of Saskatchewan, Alberta and Manitoba to the row crops of Ontario and Quebec and the orchards and vineyards of British Columbia and Niagara. It covers compass calibration, preflight inspection, motor start and stop, takeoff, landing, control modes, Smart RTH, Low Battery RTH, Failsafe RTH and Landing Protection. The procedure, specifications and warnings below are identical to the original edition linked above — the hardware does not change at the border. What changes for a Canadian operator is the regulatory and purchasing context: the DJI Agras T70P falls into Transport Canada’s medium RPAS class (25–150 kg) and flies within visual line of sight on an Advanced Operations pilot certificate under the November 2025 rules, with a Special Flight Operations Certificate for anything outside that envelope; spraying follows provincial applicator licensing and Health Canada PMRA aerial label directions, and pricing is shown in Canadian dollars. Ares Acres stocks T70P propellers, batteries and preflight consumables referenced in this guide as genuine DJI Agras OEM parts, ships them to Canada with free standard shipping, and shows CAD pricing at checkout.

Section 3 of the T70P manual is the core normal-flight procedure. It moves from compass calibration into the preflight checklist, motor start/stop, takeoff and landing, control modes and the three principal Return-to-Home paths.

Quick Answer: Before flight, fully charge all devices, inspect propulsion/sensors/antennas, secure the battery, spray tank, arm locks and cables, confirm the spraying system is free of leaks/blockage, wear a helmet and keep more than 6 m from the aircraft. Calibrate the compass when prompted, preferably with an empty tank. Start the motors with one of DJI's Combination Stick Commands. For emergencies, C1 + C2 + Flight Pause stops the motors mid-flight. RTH can be triggered manually, by low battery or by controller-signal loss.

Compass calibration

DJI says compass calibration affects flight safety and should be performed when prompted by the app. Do not calibrate near strong magnetic interference such as utility poles or steel-reinforced walls, and do not carry ferromagnetic items such as keys or mobile phones during calibration. DJI recommends calibrating with an empty tank.

Preflight checklist

All devices should be fully charged and genuine components should be used. Motors, propellers, the vision system, radar and antennas should be unobstructed and in good condition. The flight battery, spray tank, arm locks and cables must be securely installed.

Confirm that the spraying system is not blocked or leaking and that sprinklers work normally. Clear plastic bags, empty fertilizer bags and other lightweight debris from the task area. Check every warning message in the DJI Agras aircraft-status list before takeoff.

Payload recommendation

DJI Agras intelligently recommends a payload limit based on aircraft condition and surroundings. The manual says not to exceed that recommended value when adding material to the tank.

Starting and stopping the motors

Use one of the Combination Stick Commands shown in the manual to start the motors and release both sticks when the motors begin spinning. After landing, hold the throttle stick down until the motors stop.

DJI identifies one emergency-only motor-stop method: press and hold C1 + C2 + Flight Pause simultaneously until the motors stop. Stopping the motors in the air causes the aircraft to crash and should only be used when doing so reduces the risk of injury or damage.

Takeoff

Take off from open, flat ground with the rear of the aircraft facing you. Make sure the app is functioning normally, there are no aircraft-status errors and the Home Point has been recorded. DJI says to push the throttle stick gently upward to lift off and rise to a safe height.

Landing

Land on an open, flat area. After touchdown, keep the throttle down until the motors stop. If a low-battery warning appears before landing, land as soon as possible.

Flight modes

Normal mode supports precise positioning. Attitude mode only maintains altitude and does not provide precise horizontal positioning. If the aircraft enters Attitude mode unexpectedly because positioning is weak, land in a safe place as soon as possible.

Smart RTH

Press and hold the RTH button on the remote controller to initiate Smart RTH when the Home Point has been recorded and GNSS is sufficiently strong. The operator can cancel RTH if conditions make manual flight preferable.

Low Battery RTH

The aircraft calculates whether the current battery level is sufficient to return. When the low-battery RTH condition is reached, the aircraft can initiate return behaviour. Critical low battery is handled separately in the Emergency Procedures chapter and can force an automatic descent/landing that cannot be cancelled.

Failsafe RTH

If the controller signal is lost and the configured lost-signal action is RTH, the aircraft enters Failsafe RTH. The emergency chapter specifies that signal loss longer than three seconds triggers the configured action, which can be RTH, landing or hover.

Obstacle avoidance during RTH

Obstacle-avoidance behaviour during RTH depends on sensing availability and environment. The manual warns operators not to treat obstacle detection as universal; power lines, small obstacles and sensing blind spots still require attention.

Landing Protection

During auto landing, Landing Protection normally causes the aircraft to descend to 3 m above the ground and hover so the operator can verify the landing area. With fixed RTK positioning, the aircraft lands directly instead of entering that 3 m hover step.

Canadian Operator FAQ: T70P Preflight, Takeoff, Flight Modes & Return-to-Home Guide

Does Ares Acres ship T70P propellers, batteries and preflight consumables to Canada?

Yes. Ares Acres ships genuine DJI Agras OEM parts, including T70P propellers, batteries and preflight consumables referenced in this guide, to Canada with free standard shipping, and Canadian customers see CAD pricing at checkout.

Do I need an SFOC to fly the DJI Agras T70P in Canada?

Not for every operation. Under Transport Canada’s November 2025 rules, the DJI Agras T70P falls into the medium RPAS class (25–150 kg) and can be flown within visual line of sight on an Advanced Operations pilot certificate; a Special Flight Operations Certificate is still required for operations outside that envelope, such as beyond visual line of sight or payloads Transport Canada treats as dangerous goods. Confirm current requirements with Transport Canada and your provincial regulator before operating.

Is this preflight, takeoff and RTH procedure different for Canadian operators?

No. The preflight, takeoff and RTH procedure described here is identical in every country; only the regulatory framework, the purchasing path and the units used in this guide differ. Confirm current requirements with Transport Canada and your provincial regulator before operating.
