The DJI Agras T50 is an established 40 L-class workhorse. The T100S is a new flagship-generation platform built for far more material throughput. For Canadian operators, the decision is not simply 40 L versus 85 L—it is also about Transport Canada weight class, regional support, cold-weather energy logistics and whether the farm has enough acreage to use the additional capacity.

Spraying: 85 L vs 40 L

The T100S carries more than twice the T50’s liquid. More importantly, its pump/nozzle system can move far more liquid per minute. That matters when a Canadian crop program requires a high L/ha rate and the T50 would otherwise need to slow down.

For lower-rate broadacre work, T50 can remain very productive. If fields are fragmented or refill points are close, the larger T100S payload can be underutilized.

Health Canada Pesticide Context

In 2026 Health Canada introduced a policy allowing RPAS application of pesticides already registered for conventional aerial application when the label does not prohibit RPAS use and all aerial directions are followed exactly. That applies regardless of whether the aircraft is a T50 or T100S. The larger drone does not expand the list of products legally available for RPAS application.

Spreading: 90 kg vs 50 kg

T100S carries up to 90 kg of compatible dry material versus T50 at 50 kg. On large fertilizer programs that can materially reduce reload cycles. But it also means the staging crew must move nearly twice as much material each cycle. Bulk loading, bag handling and safe ground logistics become more important.

Lifting: T100S Adds a Third Role

T100S can carry up to 95 kg as a suspended agricultural load. That creates possible transport work beyond spray/spread seasons. T50 is primarily an application platform and does not provide an equivalent native heavy-lift architecture.

Transport Canada Weight Considerations

Both aircraft are above 25 kg and therefore outside Canada’s small-drone class when operated at their agricultural weights. The T100S launch-market maximum of 149.9 kg remains within the medium-drone band of more than 25 kg through 150 kg. The exact T50 and T100S aircraft must still satisfy the safety-assurance requirements for the intended Advanced operation.

Canadian shoulder seasons can expose batteries to low temperatures. T50’s established battery/charger ecosystem has the advantage of field familiarity and parts experience. T100S adds newer thermal-management design, but any future Canadian package should be evaluated by its actual battery and charger specifications rather than launch-market assumptions.
