DJI D14000iE engine oil dipstick and drain hose

DJI D14000iE Engine Oil Maintenance: Check Level & Change 10W-40 Oil

Engine oil is both a daily readiness item and a scheduled service item on the D14000iE. DJI warns that running with low oil can damage the engine, and the built-in oil sensor can stop the engine when oil falls below the safety threshold. The manual recommends SJ 10W-40 or equivalent engine oil meeting or exceeding API SJ.

Quick Answer: Check oil with the generator stopped on a flat surface. If it has just run, wait at least 15 minutes. Wipe the dipstick, reinsert it without screwing it in, remove it without inverting it, and read the level. Add SJ 10W-40 or equivalent when near or below the lower mark. For replacement, warm the engine for several minutes, stop it, drain through the oil-drain hose and refill to the upper limit.

Check the oil level

  1. Stop the generator and place it on a flat surface.
  2. If it has just operated, wait at least 15 minutes.
  3. Unscrew and wipe the dipstick.
  4. Insert it without screwing it in, then remove it and read the level. Do not invert it.
  5. Add the recommended oil if near or below the lower limit.
  6. Reinstall and tighten the dipstick.

Oil level is one of DJI's important pre-operation checks.

Replace the engine oil

Place the generator on a flat surface, run it for several minutes to warm the engine, then stop it. Put a container under the oil-drain hose, remove the hose, open its cap counterclockwise and let the oil drain completely. Reinstall the hose, tighten the cap, then refill through the dipstick opening to the upper limit.

DJI states that engine oil significantly affects performance and service life. The recommended oil type is SJ 10W-40 for a four-stroke engine, or an equivalent meeting or exceeding API SJ.

Why a low-oil shutdown is not automatically a starter failure

The pre-operation section says the built-in oil sensor stops the engine when oil falls below the safety level. Confirm oil condition before selecting cranking components such as the Electric Starter or Starter Motor Relay.
